Lochore Cyclocross

The first real mudfest of the SCX season went well for Clarion riders Jamie and Cameron Mason.
The Cyclocross caravan was off to Lochore Meadows in Fife last weekend.
Winter had arrived at last with temperatures near zero and a cold wet Easterly wind.
The boys were not put off and put in a great performance.

Cameron was up first in a very competitive field of 12. The course was very flat and fast so the boys were really flying round. Cameron put in a good effort to finish in 5th place just seconds behind Sean Flynn of Edinburgh Road Club. 1st place was taken by Jamie Willoughby of Drumlanrig Root Rats who had another good outing.

Jamie was up next in the Youth category on the longer adult course and had another great result.
A fast course but with some very long grass which then turned to mud brought out the best in Jamie as he picked up a 6th place spot just behind Mathew Peters of Stirlings Wallace Warriors who have a very strong Youth/kids racing team with some very competitive female riders.
Both boys were caked in mud and clearly very happy.

There was a showing from the older Clarion members too with coach Simon Fagan and David Mason enjoying the therapeutic effects of The Joy of Mud.

We're all off to Auchentoshen next week !
