After the excitement of Gala Day why not head over to the South side of Glasgow and let the kids have a blast on a new MTB course.
Rockhard MTB have taken on the challenge to improve the race course from 2009 whilst working within the constraints of a shorter, faster, more technically challenging course. Out goes the bridge and the 1k route through the farm and in comes more singletrack. The course comes in at 5.8K with 300mtrs of climbing. However, unlike many courses there are 3 main climbs and a couple more very short ones, with the obvious reward of numerous short descents, a couple of long fast sections and no difficulty overtaking on 99% of the course.
For the photographers and spectators there are a few excellent places to catch that look of terror and in particular the near vertical 20m drop is still in and for those who would prefer to give it a miss the alternative route gives an additional penalty of around 15 seconds. The feed Zone is immediately below the race village so everyone will still feel part of the goings on.
All in all the course is fast (around 18-20mins for Elites) 100% rideable, you get excellent reward for your efforts and it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face, once you get your breath back.
The kid's course is adjacent to the main arena with the furthermost point being no more than 300 meters away. It is about 500 meters in length, with a few very small hills and some very easy technical sections. It can be quite fast for those in the older categories and there is plenty of room for passing.
Parking will be in the main area, with provision for overspill in the lower area.
