Scottish Cyclo-Cross Series
Cyclo-Cross is a great way to get into cycle racing. The courses are generally off-road with less technical sections than Mountain bike races. In Scotland the season begins in October and finishes by Christmas but a few races also get organised in the new year.
You can buy a day license when you sign on so you can have a go at racing before you buy a yearly race license.
Its a good idea to arrive at the sign on about an hour before the race, and then try the course a few times to get used to the circuit.
We recommend entering before the day, this helps the organiser and speeds up sign on on race day.
Cyclo-Cross bikes are racing bikes with enough frame clearance for knobbily tyres. You can use a mountain bike as well, but make sure you have knobbily tyres fitted. What ever you use all bikes should be checked beforehand to make sure they are in good working order.
Your kit will be dirty, the best way to clean it is to soak it in a bucket of hot soapy water for a few days, then wash it in the machine (if it's really dirty you can hand wash before it putting it in the machine)
